Our client, a market leader in manufacturing and engineering services, is looking for a Jig Borer/Manuel Miller to join their Stansted base. Reporting to the Machine Shop Manager the successful Jig Borer/Manuel Miller applicant will carry out skilled work using a Jig Borer/Manual Mill machine; setting up and running the Jig Borer/Manual Mill to perform tasks that meet targets, criteria, and deadlines. The successful Jig Borer/Manuel Miller appli9cant must meet the following:
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
- Machine Operation: Operate and set up jig boring machines/manual mills for precision machining operations.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Tool Selection: Select and install appropriate tools, fixtures, and workpieces on the machine.
- Machine Adjustment: Adjust machine settings (speed, feed rate, depth of cut) to achieve precise tolerances and surface finishes.
- Process Monitoring: Monitor the machining process and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate data, records, and documentation associated with your work.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with quality standards, policies, procedures, codes, and health and safety legislation.
- Issue Reporting: Immediately report any problems or failures that may impact the organisation and/or its clients/customers to the Line Manager.
- Policy Adherence: Adhere to all organisational policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Aerospace Industry Experience: Previous experience in the aerospace industry is essential.
- Machining Expertise: Proven experience with jig boring/manual milling is essential.
- Material Handling: Experience using lifting equipment such as jib cranes and pedestrian forklifts to load/unload material to/from machines is desirable.
- Measurement Skills: Ability to use various measurement equipment to check components prior to “First Off Inspection” and perform self-checks on components is essential.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of machinery, tools, equipment, and materials common to the role is essential.
- Team Collaboration: A good team player with strong communication skills.
- Safety Focus: Commitment to maintaining a health and safety environment.
- Attention to Detail: High level of focus and attention to detail.
