Mechanical Design Engineer – SolidWorks / 3D CAD / Machinery – Bedfordshire
Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks and 3D CAD skills, looking to work on innovative machinery projects? We’re recruiting for a growing engineering firm seeking a hands-on designer to develop bespoke mechanical systems and production equipment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative design team where your expertise in mechanical engineering, machine design, and 3D modelling will directly impact product development and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop mechanical systems and machinery using SolidWorks and AutoCAD

Produce detailed 3D CAD models, layout drawings, BOMs, and pneumatic schematics

Collaborate with electrical and controls teams to deliver integrated solutions

Support shop floor teams during machine build, test, and commissioning

Create technical documentation, manuals, and validation reports

Identify design improvements and contribute to continuous development
Essential Skills & Experience:
-
Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BTEC, HNC or equivalent)

Proven experience in mechanical design of industrial machinery

Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and 3D CAD

Hands-on fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities

Familiarity with MS Office and technical documentation

Valid passport and willingness to travel (UK and overseas)
Desirable:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience with AutoCAD and pneumatic systems

Background in machinery build and commissioning
-
Exposure to Lean, 5S, or Kaizen methodologies

Hours:
-
Monday to Thursday: 08:00–17:00

Friday: 08:00–13:00

Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 depending on experience
