CNC Water jet Programmer/Setter/Operator

Main duties and responsibilities:
• Read and understand Technical/Engineering drawings and related documentation such as
Condition of Supply (COS) and engineering change note (ECN)
• Edit, set and operate water jet CNC machines
• Basic programming codes – conversational and/or G-codes
• Manufacture tooling and fixtures to aid cutting
• First off inspection
• Deburring machined components
• Maintaining consumable tooling
• Operator maintenance
• Maintain good 5S and housekeeping
• Assist production and engineering with continuous improvement activities
• Comply with policies

Working period:
37.5hrs/week

Shift Patterns:
Early: 6.00am to 2.00pm, Monday to Friday
Late: 2.00pm to 10.00pm, Monday to Friday
Twilight: alternate weeks – 6.00am to 2.00pm / 2.00pm to 10.00pm, Monday to Friday Night: 10.00pm to 6.00am, Monday to Friday
*All shifts include a ½ hour unpaid daily lunch breaks

Method of pay:
Monthly (directly paid into employee’s account)

Holidays:
23 days (of which at least 3 days are allocated for Christmas)

Pension:
Company contributes towards the company pension.

Overtime:
Overtime is not guaranteed but if worked is paid time and a third for week days, time and a half for Saturdays and double time for Sundays.

Bonuses and sick pay:
Bonus is paid tri-annually and is based on company profits and company-wide attendance performance; typically £2,500 per annum gross. Sick pay is also paid.

Prerequisites:
• This position requires at least four years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; particularly setting and operating water jet machines
• Appreciation for water quality and conducting water tests
• Use of mechanical inspection equipment
• Deburring and finishing components
• Appreciation of Lean Principles and 5S methodology
• Computer literate especially in Windows based products
• Ability to work without detailed direction as well as working within a team
• Well organized and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Willing to work required hours to complete the job
• Ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels
• Proactive and very energetic

Probation
Permanent – this position commences with a three-month probation that excludes sick pay and the bonus.
