Head of Engineering

Are you an experienced engineering leader looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a hands-on Head of Engineering to lead a team of six Design Engineers in developing access solutions for the construction and fire safety industry. This senior leadership role requires a strategic mindset combined with a deep technical understanding of product development, modular designs, and engineering change control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six Design Engineers, fostering innovation and professional growth.

• Oversee product design and development to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and compliant solutions.

• Drive engineering change processes and change control, ensuring efficient implementation and documentation.

• Implement and manage Design for Manufacture methodologies to optimize efficiency and quality.

• Provide technical expertise and hands-on leadership in product development and modular design.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.

• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and certification requirements.

• Develop and maintain robust process control and quality assurance systems.

• Leverage knowledge of DriveWorks or SolidWorks to streamline design automation and configuration.

• Support the business with continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Key Requirements:

• Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.

• Proven experience leading design and engineering teams, ideally within the construction or fire safety sectors.

• Strong understanding of engineering change processes and change control.

• Working knowledge of DriveWorks or SolidWorks.

• Hands-on approach with a strong technical background in product development and modular designs.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering projects while meeting deadlines and budgets.

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
