  • What you’ll be doing:

• Management of delivery of Platform Monitoring and Control (PM&C) hardware and software to a configured per release’ baseline, ensuring alignment between the platform management system, control and instrumentation equipment, platform equipment, and the various PM&C cable and termination schedules
• Working with stakeholders across the platform to understand the most efficient and effective route to embodiment of change to ensure a coherent baseline is maintained to support the needs of the ship programme
• End-to-end oversight of PM&C hardware and software change from inception through to delivery to ship
• Support the Test and Commissioning Engineers by ensuring agreed functionality is delivered on time to support the ship programme, agreeing any shortfalls identified during pre-delivery testing and to manage the rapid change process through critical phases of the programme, to rectify issues as they arise during T&C, managing process and stakeholders / decision makers to review and prioritise and enact change in a timely manner in support of ship delivery
• Direct the effort to maintain appropriate control of System Architect and Interface Control Documentation baselines, identifying the most effective ways to implement changes through affected objects/activities

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

• Appreciation of wider Royal Navy platform design and principles of operation
• Understanding of the need to capture and maintain data generated for use by the project and the tools and techniques used, particularly database centric toolsets
• Prior use of Type 26 project toolsets (e.g. DOORS, System Architect, Windchill, SDE, Rational Quality Manager, JIRA, BMC Remedy, Visio)

Desirable:

• Substantial experience in engineering or a defence related industry
• Knowledge of the Type 23, Type 45 Destroyer, CVF IPMS, or similar, and their approaches to Platform Monitoring Software (PMS) and Hardware development

Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered

This is excellent opportunity in a new role where you will provide technical leadership and guidance as the team lead for T26 Platform Monitoring and Control (PM&C) Software Release and Hardware Delivery Management, monitoring the team outputs to ensure they meet the needs of the programme.
