Your main responsibilities as a Product Development Engineer will involve:

• Conducting and managing product and process design, development, test, and evaluation activities for Land UK products
• Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner, from planning through to trials execution to reporting and presenting conclusions
• Configuration and maintenance of Engineering Bills of Materials for products
• Product design and evaluation / down selection e.g., Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
• Coordinating of theoretical simulations e.g. (thermal, structural, fluids and aerodynamics)
• Development and use of Safe Systems of Work
• Management of suppliers, both internal and external, to ensure that development and manufacturing activities are completed to time, quality, and schedule
• Life Cycle Management (contributing towards design reviews) from concept to disposal
• Working as part of an integrated project team, including regular engagement with project management, procurement (supply chain) and operations
• Continuous Improvement activities

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent BTEC (HNC/HND) qualification in a technically based discipline (mechanical/chemical or equivalent) supported by complementary experience
• Experience in Product design and/or test and evaluation
• A good understanding of manufacturing techniques and assembly processes
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and models

Desirable skills:

• Knowledge of munitions design and manufacture
• Chartered status or working towards Chartership in a relevant institute
• Experience and knowledge of manufacturing in a high hazard environment
• A good understanding of Systems Engineering and Engineering design processes and toolsets

Your written and verbal communication skills will be excellent. You will be expected to travel occasionally as part of this role. Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with all areas of the organisation, e.g., those from a technical / non-technical and those from an assurance / delivery background.

Location: Glascoed, near Newport – South Wales, under a hybrid working environment.
