Reporting to the MD you will be fully responsible for end-to-end supply chain, including procurement, material planning, supply chain management and stores. You will lead the supply chain team taking accountability for a change management journey and continuous improvement. You will need to possess an effective and inspiring leadership style while implementing modern supply chain methodology to drive performance.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The role is responsible for driving the cost effective and timely delivery of procurement sourcing requirements. This must be achieved within set costs and by methods appropriate to the production environment. Operating within a commercially competitive industry strong emphasis is placed on minimizing overall cost without compromising the required quality or supply.

The job holder must have the ability to promote a culture of best practice and sharing of knowledge within the function and across the wider business.

MAIN DUTIES

Manage the supply of products according to company strategy, business opportunities, assessment of needs and technical, contractual, or regulatory requirements.

Evaluate stocks in order to determine how to decrease losses and optimise services provided to customers.

Establish stock turn targets and manage production from a cost and quantity perspective. Minimise excess material held and liaise with sales to sell underwritten excesses back to customers.

Negotiate prices for all services provided by suppliers.

Meet with suppliers in order to discuss performance results, production forecasts, and any future potential change in the supply chain process.

Monitor and evaluate all suppliers and partners to ensure all activities are performed to the companies expectations.

Implement new supply chain processes or improve existing ones to improve Supply Chain services to internal and external customers.

Review and update supply chain practices in order to ensure compliance with national and international regulations and applicable laws.

Be fully conversant with the ITAR regulations, ensuring the company is fully compliant.

Possess a good working knowledge of the import/export procedures, to ensure that all relevant departments are following the legislation and/or company requirements. Develop the process to ensure that the company is fully compliant.

Lead discussions with suppliers in relation to new product launch and/or manufacturing updates or transfers.

Collaborate with other departments i.e. Sales, Quotes, Finance, Quality Assurance, Production and Production Engineering etc., to ensure that specific projects are compliant and on track

Establish dashboards to measure, compare, and evaluate the Supply Chain performance.

Generate and maintain department KPI’s and metrics.

Maintain an understanding of company working practices and SOPs, and ensure these standards are met across the organisation.

Supervise the staff in Purchasing, and in conjunction with the Supervisor ensure that discipline is maintained in Stores and Goods-In.

Liaise with HR Department on staff training and development, absence management and holidays.

Work to ISO9001:2015 and AS9100 Rev D quality requirements.

Follow and uphold the Companies environmental policy, procedures and instructions in order to minimize environmental impacts from its activities.

In addition, the jobholder may be required to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential:

Proven experience in supply chain management in a business with > £10M turnover.
Member of CIPS
Experience in working with Senior Management
Extensive electronic component purchasing experience
Good working knowledge of ITAR / import/export legislation
Supply Chain Management skills (e.g. Risk Management / Programme Governance / Metrics)
Experience of Supplier Evaluation and Selection
Knowledge and understanding of electronics distribution industry
Ability to plan workloads and priorities
Experience of cost reduction programmes
Experience of working with integrated company ERP systems

Desirable:

Educated to graduate level or equivalent
Ability to use spreadsheet packages
Previous manufacturing background
Experience of overall production planning, combining labour and materials.
Health & Safety Experience
Experience of working with international suppliers
Experience working with and in depth knowledge of UK MoD contracting processes and agreement types
